Eric Bledsoe ($7,400 FD, $7,100 DK)- The last time we saw Bledsoe was on the other side of the rise of “Scary Terry.” This year Bledsoe has a new coach and offensive system that should help him get back on track after an inconsistent year. Tonight’s matchup with the Hornets should help him get started in the right direction.
Elfrid Payton ($6,700 FD, $5,300 DK)- Payton will be on his third team in less than a year but with the Pelicans, Payton may be able to carve out a nice role for himself. A point guard who contributes across the stat line like Payton should be able to put up fantasy points in a high scoring affair with the Rockets.
Dennis Smith ($6,600 FD, $7,000 DK)- Smith gets a great matchup to start the year against the Phoenix Suns who have struggled to guard point guards over the past couple of years. Look for Smith to get his sophomore campaign off to a good start tonight against the Suns.
Other good buys: Chris Paul ($9,100 FD, $8,900 DK), Jeremy Lin ($5,000 FD, $4,000 DK), Trey Burke ($4,900 FD, $5,600 DK).
Devin Booker ($8,200 FD, $7,400 DK) – Booker is a go for tonight against the Mavericks. He is a player that can give you 50 fantasy points any given night so I like him in this spot tonight at home, especially at his price.
Luka Doncic ($6,700 FD, DK) – Facing Booker tonight is Luka Doncic, who will be making his NBA debu. Doncic is an intriguing play tonight because it’s his first NBA regular season game but he has a light matchup and can contribute in so many different ways. I like him to outperform his price-point tonight.
Caris LeVert ($6,000 FD, $5,800 DK) – Everyone in the Nets organization raved about LeVert’s improved game during camp and it showed in preseason. LeVert is in a good spot tonight as the Nets will be down a couple of players which will give him more playing time.
Other good buys: James Harden ($11,700 FD, $11,500 DK), Tim Hardaway ($6,300 FD, $6,600 DK), Rodney Hood ($5,200 FD, $4,900 DK).
Giannis Antetokounmpo ($12,000 FD, $10,900 DK) – I’m excited to see this new Bucks offense as it looks like the Greek Freak will have the potential to be fully unleashed this year. Antetokounmpo started off last year with a bang and I expect he’ll do that this year as well.
Will Barton ($6,900 FD, $6,700 DK) – Barton was one of my favorite DFS targets last year, especially when you knew he was going to get a full allotment of minutes because when he gets playing time, Barton can put up huge fantasy lines. This year Barton enters the year as the starting small forward and while there are a lot of mouths to feed in the Nuggets offense, Barton should be able to exceed value in a track meet with the Clippers.
Taurean Prince ($6,000 FD, $6,100 DK) – Prince showed last year he was capable of putting up big lines and I expect one tonight with the Hawks down a couple of usual starters. It should also help that tonight’s opponent, the Knicks, are looking to run more which will add more offensive opportunities for Prince.
Other good buys: Kawhi Leonard ($9,600 FD, $8,100), Tyreke Evans ($7,400 FD, $6,200), Jonathan Isaac ($5,700 FD, $5,000 DK).
Anthony Davis ($12,400 FD, $11,100 DK)- Davis put up ridiculous numbers last year after Cousins went down, even for him. Davis will be a serious threat to win MVP throughout the year and tonight he gets a chance to get his campaign off to a roaring start as the Pelicans will take on the Rockets.
Kevin Love ($8,300 FD, $8,600)- For the first time in four years, Kevin Love will be the main scoring option for his team on opening night. As he showed with Minnesota, Love is capable of putting up monster numbers when placed in that position. There is some risk attached with him as Tyronn Lue has stated he worries that Love may not be able to play long stretches during tonight’s game.
Tobias Harris ($7,600, $7,000)- Harris broke out in a big way after his trade to the Clippers and he should be able to build on last season’s success as the main scoring option for the Clips this year. Harris should be able to put up points against the Nuggets in an up and down affair.
Other good buys: Blake Griffin ($8,200 FD, DK), Nikola Mirotic ($6,600 FD, $6,300 DK), Kelly Olynyk ($5,400 FD, $6,100 DK).
Nikola Jokic ($9,900 FD, DK)- Fresh off of signing a huge deal, even bigger expectations will be heaped upon Jokic this year but I think he can more than exceed them. Jokic will get the Clippers tonight, who don’t have their usual stud defensive center of past years, DeAndre Jordan, anymore. Look for Jokic to feast tonight.
Enes Kanter ($7,000, $7,200)- Kanter is my favorite play tonight after the way he rebounded during the preseason. Without Porzingis, Kanter may the Knicks’ go-to offensive option. Adding to Kanter’s value is that the Hawks will be without their two top big men tonight.
Other good buys: Jarrett Allen ($5,600 FD, $5,700 DK), Alex Len ($5,100 FD, $5,600 DK).
