Chandler Parsons will meet with the Blazers on July 1 and Damian Lillard will be in attendance, reports Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com.
Parsons sort of fits the current combo forward role that Moe Harkless plays but he’s not in the same category defensively. Perhaps Terry Stotts thinks he can play Al-Farouq Aminu at the four slot and continue rolling with a small lineup.
The Blazers are an intriguing fit because they need more talent to continue building off a nice playoff run. They may overpay and they may even get burned on a deal like this for Parsons, but at least the synergy could be there for a nice offensive machine. And since they’re one of three teams that has meetings scheduled with Hassan Whiteside, maybe the play here is to pitch the Parsons and Whiteside combo a solid backcourt of Lillard and C.J. McCollum.
The Blazers would have to shed salary to make it happen and it’s not laugh you out of the room crazy.
