Damian Lillard has still not made a decision on suiting up for Team USA at the 2016 Olympic Games. When asked directly about his plans Lillard simply replied,”I have not thought about it yet.”
While some stars, including Kevin Durant and Jimmy Butler, have directly announced their intentions to play, Lillard is taking his time. In total 31 individuals are being considered for Team USA, but several prominent players have withdrawn their names from consideration. James Harden and Russell Westbrook both announced that they will not be attending recently, opting to not put their bodies through an extended season.
Injuries have also forced several players from the field. Stephen Curry wants to give his knee and shoulder ailments time to heal, and both John Wall and Chris Paul need to recover from offseason surgeries. All told, Team USA is left very thin at the point guard spot, as currently only Kyrie Irving, Mike Conley, and Lillard remain under consideration.
Lillard likely won’t make his decision until after his current promotional tour in Asia for Adidas.
