The NBA recently moved the All Star Game out of Charlotte after House Bill 2 was passed by North Carolina. All four of the options are big tourist destinations, and should be able to successfully handle the event. Las Vegas would be an interesting choice, considering the fact that no team currently plays in that state. The NBA does have a large presence there between the Summer League and Team USA.
No matter what the NBA chooses, Adam Silver’s decision to move the All Star Game out of North Carolina is just another example of the recently-appointed commissioner’s willingness to make tough decisions and take a firm position on social issues.
