Jeremy Lin will exhaust every opportunity in free agency, according to ESPN’s Ian Begley.
He’s going to look at all offers and consider the full breadth of his options so he could be connected to a handful of teams in negotiations in his pursuit of the best fit. Finding a team that will help him develop to his potential will be Lin’s top priority in the free agency process.
Lin also said he’ll be looking for a ‘home’ this offseason, and it’s hard to fault him given the fact that he’s never spent more than two years with a team.
He’s set himself up well as one of the top point guards on the market this summer and could command more than $10 million annually on his next deal. Given the cap environment, it wouldn’t be surprising for Lin to use term length rather than salary as one of his main criteria. He’ll be paid handsomely by somebody, but is in a position to pick whoever offers the most long term stability if his desire to find a permanent landing spot is really high on his list.
He described this past season with the Hornets as “the most fun I’ve had in my six years,” so Lin could very well stay in the Queen City. They have a few other free agents, including Nicolas Batum, Marvin Williams, Courtney Lee and Al Jefferson so it remains to be seen if Lin emerges as a priority for Charlotte.
