The Kings held a free agent mini-camp on Tuesday which included Alonzo Gee, Ben Bentil, Bryce Cotton, Chris Johnson, Jack Cooley, JaKarr Sampson, Perry Ellis and Phil Pressey according to Alex Kennedy of Hoops Hype.
Each player that attended the workout has some form of NBA experience but at this point they are all ‘fringe’ NBA players. This is not normally something we see the Kings doing but there is no harm in hosting workouts like this; if anything, it’s promising to see them scan the open market for some talent.
Alonzo Gee is the most established of the lot and could be an interesting addition, however, it is unlikely the Kings add anyone at this stage in the season. The motive behind the workout was to either find additional players for summer league, or some potential training camp invitees for later in the year.
