• It’ll be a battle for third place in the Pacific division on Friday night when the 12-22 Kings face the visiting 13-23 Suns.

Both teams enter the game having won three of their last five, but the Kings got the better of the Suns earlier in December when the two squared off. Sacramento won that game 99-92. George Hill had a game-high 18 points in that contest and the Kings limited the Suns to just 41 percent shooting.

The Suns, however, were lacking their star player Devin Booker when the teams last met. Booker, who missed nine games with a strained adducter, returned to action on Tuesday when the Suns defeated the Grizzlies and dropped 32 points, six assists and five rebounds. He also had five turnovers and fouled out in the game.

In the two team’s first meeting of the season in October, Booker led the way for the Suns with 22 points, countering the 23 points from Kings’ Garrett Temple off the bench as Phoenix won 117-115.

The Kings are coming into the third meeting between the teams with a bit of a rumble after knocking off the Cavaliers at home to begin their six-game road trip. The Kings fell behind early in the first quarter to the Cavs, but took control of the game in the second quarter. When the Cavs made their push to start the second half, the Kings were resilient and kept them at bay. All this led to the Kings walking out of Golden 1 Center with a 109-95 victory.

The Kings will look to keep up the scoring pace as they face Phoenix. The Suns average over 105 points per game. In the last three wins for the Suns, however, they’ve limited their opponents to under 100 points, while scoring less than 100 in all three games themselves.

The Kings, in their last three wins, are averaging over 104 points per game and have held their opponent to under 100 points in each of those affairs as well.
