The Kings will be working out multiple second round prospects on Wednesday. They include:
G Kendrick Nunn – Oakland
G Allerik Freeman – NC State
G Elijah Stewart – USC
G Hamidou Diallo – Kentucky
F Kenrich Williams – TCU
F Svi Mykhailiuk – Kansas
Diallo, Williams and Mykhailiuk could all be players of interest for the Kings at No. 37. Per NBADraft.net, Mykhailiuk is projected to go 41st, Diallo 54th and Williams 57th.
The 6-foot-8 swingman out of Kansas is an intriguing option. He averaged 14.6 points on 43.4 percent shooting from the field (44.4 3PT) in 34.5 minutes per game last season, and figures to carry over that sharp-shooting to the NBA. As of now it’s likely he’s on the board for the Kings at No. 37, but anything is possible at that spot.
Diallo posted averages of 10.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 24.8 minutes per game during his lone season at Kentucky. He’s more of a project player compared to someone like Mykhailiuk, but the Kings are in no hurry to win games.
Williams is a big man who can do a bit of everything. He recorded averages of 13.2 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.8 steals in 36.0 minutes per game with TCU. Williams shot 47.7 percent from the field and 39.5 percent from three. It’ll depend on who the Kings go with at No. 2, but the team already has some steady depth in the frontcourt. Nonetheless with the growing appeal of the G-League, the team can always send extras down to Stockton.
With the June 21 draft closing in, Sacramento has yet to bring in any first round talent. There’s still a few weeks for that to change, so fans shouldn’t be too concerned on that front.
