The Kings will bring in one of the draft’s top prospects, Marvin Bagley III, for an individual workout on Monday according to Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee.
Sacramento currently holds the No. 2 pick in the upcoming draft, and the former Duke standout is certainly in play for them at that spot. Bagley is the first top prospect to come to Sacramento for a workout in the past month; all the other players have been second round options, at best.
The 6-foot-11 star posted averages of 21.0 points and 11.1 rebounds per game with Duke last season. He shot 61.4 percent from the field and 39.7 percent from three.
The Kings already have considerable depth at power forward, with Skal Labissiere, Harry Giles and Zach Randolph, but that shouldn’t stop the team from looking at someone like Bagley. Many draft analysts believe Bagley will be a star in the NBA, and the Kings should be drafting the best player available given their current situation.
Sacramento is doing their due diligence on the top prospects that may be available at No. 2. Vlade Divac and Vivek Ranadive were recently in Barcelona watching Luka Doncic play, and front office representatives are expected to be in Chicago today and next week to watch Michael Porter Jr. workout.
Many options are on the board for the Kings with the second pick, and it makes life a little easier for the team knowing that Deandre Ayton is almost certainly going No. 1 to the Phoenix Suns.
