• Wenyen Gabriel will be one of the newest members of the Kings, according to Gabriel’s Twitter.

Update: Sean Cunningham of ABC10 has also confirmed the report.

The 6-foot 9 forward played two seasons at Kentucky before declaring for the draft. He averaged 6.8 points and 5.4 rebounds in 23.1 minutes for the Wildcats in his sophomore season.

He was also able to knock down 3-pointers for the team at almost a 40 percent rate. He upped his level of long range shooting from his freshman season as he averaged 2.9 attempts per game in his second year (up from 1.7 in his first season.)

After the draft ended, Gabriel’s former coach John Calipari tweeted his thoughts.

The specifics on the Gabriel news aren’t out yet, but it will more than likely be an invite to the team’s Summer League as they try to round out their roster.

Gabriel will be the fourth Kentucky player on Sacramento, joining first round picks Willie Cauley-Stein, Skal Labissiere and De’Aaron Fox.

Gabriel tweeted after the draft that he’d make teams regret passing on him, so if he does get a shot with the Kings, fans can expect a lot of intensity from a high-motor player.
