The Kings tip-off their 2017-18 campaign against a new look Rockets squad at Golden 1 Center.
Sacramento comes into the season with nine players who are either in their first or second year in the NBA, a feat unmatched by other teams in the league.
The Kings went 1-5 during the preseason, losing five straight after winning the preseason opener. It’s certainly an underwhelming record for Sacramento, but with the amount of youth on the roster it’s a record that was somewhat expected.
Offseason additions George Hill, Zach Randolph and Vince Carter can only do so much to right the ship; it’s going to be a lengthy process before winning becomes a common trend in Sacramento.
The Rockets brought in nine-time All-Star Chris Paul during the offseason to add to their already talented roster. The pairing of Harden and Paul could potentially be problematic, but it could also be a rousing success, and the Kings will get the witness that experiment first hand to begin the season.
Over the past three seasons, the Kings are just 1-10 against the Rockets. They’ve never matched up well against the free-flowing offense of Houston and it’s not going to get better anytime soon, unfortunately.
