The Kings have no time to rest as they head home to Sacramento to host the Blazers on the second night of a back-to-back.
After an ugly loss to the Lakers on Sunday, Sacramento will be looking to show a bit more consistency on both sides of the ball. The Kings often looked lost on offense against an average Lakers’ defense which isn’t a good sign at all.
One thing that was evident last night is that the Kings are still trying to figure out an offensive system that works effectively for them. They had some success when they ran pick-and-roll sets, which is promising. Additionally, having Zach Randolph operate in the post is another way to run the offense for a team loaded with young talent.
With that said, the Kings can’t afford to carry over their bad habits from Sunday’s off-performance as their mistakes will be magnified against a superior Blazers’ lineup.
The rotation looked a little more set against LA and we may see something similar in this contest. Joerger will continue to experiment with various five-man lineups but he looks to have a general idea of his regular season plans.
Sounds as though it will be all about the younger players tonight as the veterans will get the night off. You can expect plenty of Buddy Hield, Skal Labissiere, Willie Cauley-Stein and Frank Mason.
This matchup is the final home game for the Kings during the preseason. The final two will be played in Los Angeles against the Clippers, and in Oakland against the Warriors.
