The Kings (13-30) return home for just one game and face the Jazz (17-26) for the first time this season.
There isn’t much of a gap between the two teams offensively. The Jazz have a slight edge in scoring at 100.6 points per game, compared to the Kings at 97.7 points per game. However, Utah’s defense has been much better than Sacramento’s as they allow just 101.9 points per game as opposed to the Kings’ 106.6.
Both teams are entering the game on the wrong end of the win-loss column as the Jazz have dropped two straight and the Kings have fallen in five consecutive games.
Both teams have a 2-8 record in their last 10 games as well.
The Kings have had trouble with the Jazz as of late, dropping four of the last five meetings between the two. Two of those losses, including the most recent came by way of a 20-plus point blowout as a matter of fact.
Coach Dave Joerger announced his decision on Monday to turn the team over to his young players so the first game since that announcement sure seems to be an intriguing one.
The Jazz will be led by rookie Donovan Mitchell who is averaging 29 points per game in his last two games and exploded for 35 on the Hornets on Friday.
The Kings on the other hand will counter with De’Aaron Fox who is averaging 14.5 points and 7.5 dimes per game in his last two starts.
Another standout lately has been forward Bogdan Bogdanovic who’s averaging more than 16 points per game in his last five appearances. Bogdanovic has also shot the ball well going 29-of-56 (51.7 percent) from the field and connecting on 10-of-20 3-pointers.
The Kings luckily won’t have to worry about defending center Rudy Gobert who returned to non-contact practice just two days ago for the Jazz.
In his absence, Utah has gone just 3-11 in their last 14 games. This is coming after they had previously gone 5-4 without Gobert.
