• *This story has been updated following the Kings’ issuance of a statement regarding the matter.

The Kings plan to move their D-League affiliate, the Bighorns, out of Reno after next season according to NBA.com’s Scott Howard-Cooper.

According to Howard-Cooper, the Kings would prefer their affiliate to be located in the Sacramento area for convenience purposes. The report didn’t include any potential locations for the Bighorns in Sacramento, but it did mention that a few locations have been discussed.

The Reno Bighorns have recently changed their logo and color scheme to “create a visual connection to the parent club” which also potentially hints at a move to Sacramento.

Kings president Chris Granger issued the statement below and it sounds like the Bighorns will be staying in Reno for the foreseeable future.

“We’re excited to continue growing our partnership with the Reno Bighorns and look forward to continuing to invest in the community next season and beyond as we build our connection with the city.”
