Following a close win over the Charlotte Hornets Saturday night, the Sacramento Kings will head to Philadelphia looking for a series sweep over the 76ers. The Kings were originally scheduled to play in Philadelphia Novermber 30th, but a wet floor forced them to reschedule.
The Kings’ first game against Philadelphia ended in a very close 102-100 victory, and featured a great battle between Joel Embiid and DeMarcus Cousins. Cousins was able to gain the edge in the first matchup, but Embiid’s talent makes it far from a guarantee that he will do that again.
Here are some notes heading into the game:
- As mentioned above, DeMarcus Cousins and Joel Embiid will be the matchup of the game. Embiid has enormous talent, and his strong play has led the 76ers to their best month in years. Embiid competes at a high level on both ends of the floor, so Cousins will surely be challenged all game. Cousins is one of the best players in the league, so he certainly has the talent to win the matchup, but it will surely be tough.
- Willie Cauley-Stein has been playing very well recently, and may be a good option for the team while trying to guard some of Philadelphia’s more mobile big men. Embiid’s strength could make it a tough matchup, but Cauley-Stein’s ability to guard the perimeter may make him the team’s best bet to guard him outside of Cousins.
- Darren Collison continued his aggressive scoring in the team’s win over the Hornets, and he appears to be getting into a rhythm at the perfect time. having two strong point guards with Darren Collison and Ty Lawson has helped keep the ball moving, and has given the team quite a few good scoring options beyond Cousins.
The Kings will have the opportunity to secure at lease a 4-4 record on the trip with a win, and that alone would make this a successful trip. With a grueling schedule and tough opponents throughout, the team should be happy with the position that they’ve put themselves in. Philadelphia has played at a high level in recent weeks, but the Kings should still have a good opportunity to secure a win.
