The exacting wording was, “the x-rays on Turner’s troublesome left ankle were negative, but he sprained it pretty good.”

That’s a little different than the x-rays themselves looking troublesome, as that would almost imply that there was a fracture (that is literally what an x-ray is checking for) but as noted above, it was negative. Let’s go guys, words matter....

well I am not a doctor but I have had a lot of ex rays so I'm guessing that after he went down they gave him an X-ray fearing it was a grade 3 ankle sprain which is a full separation of the ligament, but I'm guessing it wasn't that bad but he still sprained his ankle which according to google is about 2-4 weeks. I would check espn for more info and maybe fantasypros or rotowire but I understand the frustration with the unclear deduction.

I’m certainly no doctor either, but as far as I know regarding diagnostic testing, x-rays specifically are used to see or rule out fractures. Sprains, strains, etc are revealed on a subsequent MRI. There’s not as much grey area in an x-ray, you either broke something or you didn’t (understanding there are a few other things unmentioned here that an x-ray can reveal related to bone damage). Saying an x-ray looked troublesome, is a weird grey area-ish answer, which, when looked more closely on what was actually said, could make hoop-ball readers confusingly interpret that as him having broke his ankle. The headline literally said it was negative and that wasn’t even mentioned

that's interesting, I'm going to try to do some more research to try to find out about Turner's injury and I'll let you know as this bio seems interesting
