Bobby Portis was a bright spot for the Bulls on Wednesday night, going for 22 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, three steals and a 3-pointer in their loss to the Sixers.
Portis has been scoring well lately while never quite eclipsing the 20-minute mark. Tonight, he got 25 minutes and led the team in scoring. When there’s more opportunity, Portis has done a good job of taking advantage this season. In the six games Portis has played 25 minutes or more, he’s averaging 19.8 points and 8.8 rebounds. This should excite those Portis owners that think Nikola Mirotic will be dealt before the deadline. If he is, that’s a small sample size of what Portis can do with extra minutes. He even outplayed Mirotic tonight as Niko finished with 15 points and three rebounds on a rough 5-of-15 shooting night.
