Klay Thompson scored 21 points on 8-of-18 shooting (including four threes) to go with three boards, one steal and one block over 29 minutes in Wednesday’s blowout win over the Hornets.
Klay has morphed into more of an early middle round asset than the first-to-second round pick he was drafted as, and though his shooting is slightly down there are two key numbers for owners to focus on. Those are his steals (0.5) and his FGAs (13.3). It’s doubtful that he takes a 3.6 FGA decrease compared to last year over the course of a season, and those steal numbers are about half of last year’s total. So yes, it’s still buy low territory and if you want to hedge — treat him like a top-30 guy and then you’ll have some upside from there.
