DeMarcus Cousins scored 40 points on 16-of-29 shooting (8-of-9 FTs) with 16 rebounds, four assists, four steals and one block in the Kings’ embarrassing loss to the Pelicans on Monday.
Cousins gave these numbers despite the Kings looking like a team with no organization and no idea how to play the game of basketball. Rajon Rondo (toe) continued to fuel the Kings’ worst instincts with 18 points, 10 rebounds, two steals and three treys but had numerous bad decisions, five turnovers, and an inability to focus this offense into what it needs to do and what it does best. Rudy Gay went for 18 & 10 with two steals and a three. Darren Collison had maybe his worst night of the year with five points on 2-of-10 shooting, six assists and six turnovers, and of course Marco Belinelli got 21 minutes to score 12 points and not do much else for the Kings.
