Marcin Gortat hit 8-of-9 shots for 16 points in Wednesday’s loss to the Heat, but managed to get just five rebounds with no steals or blocks in 25 minutes.
Gortat had a tale of two seasons with top-50 value prior to the All Star break and then after that he was in the bottom of the top-250 over the last 27 games. We’ll eventually figure out what exactly the issue has been — but it doesn’t seem as if injury was the issue as much as it was general struggles. Scott Brooks never bailed him out in the media with discussion of an injury and spoke openly about his struggles. At age 33 it’s fair to wonder if he simply lost his fastball.
