Prior to the All Star break, the Wizards were heavily reliant on their starters – mostly due to a weak bench. They are 2-5 when both John Wall and Bradley Beal do not score at least 20 points. However, over the last two weeks, Jason Smith has been the best player off the Wizards’ bench, averaging 8.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists during that time. He has also been a solid contributor in threes and steals and taken away a lot of Marcin Gortat’s minutes. So much so that Fantasy owners are starting to abandon Gortat as their fantasy playoffs unwind. If you haven’t already moved on from Gortat, it might be time to consider other options.
