Ben Simmons had an up-and-down evening on Thursday, scoring 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting to go with six rebounds, four assists and a block while also committing seven turnovers and shooting 2-of-5 from the line in a brutal home loss.
Simmons’ big issues are turnovers and percentages, but he was able to navigate his way closer to the hoop tonight and delivered a solid mark from the floor. There’s no hiding the free throws, however, and the turnovers make for a notable blemish on a night where both teams were coughing it up like crazy. Simmons is the clear frontrunner for Rookie of the Year and should stick in the middle-rounds thanks to strong counting stat production but there are some things to patch up before he becomes an elite fantasy option.
