Blake Griffin fell victim to a tenacious Jazz defense on Tuesday night, finishing an ugly loss with 13 points, two rebounds, two assists and a three on 5-of-16 shooting in 29 minutes of playing time.
You can just about stick a fork in the Pistons, who are suddenly locked into a bunch of big financial commitments without any clear path to a playoff spot going forward, let alone actual contention. It opens the door for a potential Griffin shutdown this season but the Pistons will probably refuse to concede, so it’s not as pressing an issue as it would be for some other teams. He’s a middle-round guy who can get you lots of popcorn stats but little else. Andre Drummond was also below par with 13 points and 11 rebounds in 24 minutes. Rudy Gobert gets the best of pretty much everyone.
