Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg said that signing Jabari Parker gives them much more flexibility and might force Lauri Markkanen and Bobby Portis to spend more time at the center position.
The Bulls fully plan on starting Jabari Parker at the three spot and Lauri Markkanen showed enough his rookie year to warrant the starting power forward job, so Portis might find himself playing center much more than he'd like. Chicago also has Robin Lopez and just spend a lottery pick on Wendell Carter Jr. in this year's draft so minutes might be scarce at the five for Portis too. The Bulls versatility might end up hurting Portis more than it helps him simply due to his place on the totem pole. However, he is entering a contract year and the Bulls seem interested in retaining him so maybe he'll have a larger role in the offense than expected.
