Carmelo Anthony officially informed the Thunder that he is opting into his $27.9 million player option going in to the 2018-19 season.
This was completely expected and now it is official. He clearly doesn't fit on the Thunder but wasn't going to get near this type of money anywhere else. Anthony averaged career-lows in points, assists, steals and even field-goal percentage this year, barely good for top-125 value in standard leagues. He was even worse during the playoffs with 11.8 points on 37.5 percent shooting. His usage should go up slightly next year if Paul George moves on.
