Carmelo Anthony’s migraine seems to be decidedly in the rear view, as the Knicks superstar posted 26 points (9-for-17 FG, 5-for-5 FT), seven rebounds, four assists, three 3-pointers and a steal on Thursday night.
Melo has played well (and, most importantly, not rested) in a Wednesday and Thursday back-to-back set. Keep him active until further notice. Besides Anthony and Porzingis, the rest of the Knicks were a mixed bag. Robin Lopez blocked three shots, but had just four points, seven boards and four turnovers. Jose Calderon had a quietly excellent night, with 12 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and three 3-balls. Arron Afflalo played 29 minutes off the bench and had 11 points and not much else. Lopez is still a must-own big, Afflalo is a one-trick pony, and Calderon is still somehow fighting off the youngsters behind him … and he thanks Kurt Rambis every day with a candied apple.
