The Cavs and Celtics could’ve completed the trade that sent Kyrie Irving to Boston and Isaiah Thomas to Cleveland sooner, but the Cavs were asking for Jayson Tatum and the Celtics weren’t willing to part ways with him.
This comes as no surprise, the Celtics have stood firm on their stance that Jayson Tatum is a crucial part of their team. Danny Ainge even said they would’ve taken him with the number one overall pick on draft night. With Crowder gone and Jaylen Brown likely starting, Jayson Tatum could easily be the Celtics best offensive weapon off the bench and maybe even sneak his way into late game lineups with his ability to score the basketball. Tatum showed the world exactly what he was capable of in the Summer League, averaging 17.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.0 assist in just 3 games and he could be a sneaky late round pick up for fantasy owners.
