The Cavs are expected to start Jae Crowder at power forward and slide Kevin Love over to the center spot, according to Jason Lloyd of The Athletic.
The lineup is expected to debut in the Cavs preseason opener Wednesday against the Hawks. The move forces Tristan Thompson to the bench and allows the the team to play with more defensive versatility and floor spacing. Last season Crowder shot 40 percent from beyond the arc for the Celtics, a skill the Cavs are looking to utilize. Love averaged 11.1 rebounds last season and could see an uptick in those numbers if the Cavs employ their small-ball lineup more often than not. Thompson should still see minutes in the low-20’s, but the shift the bench makes him hard to draft in anything but the deepest of leagues.
