D’Angelo Russell shot 10-of-17 to collect 26 points, six rebounds, three assists and three triples on Saturday night but had to be evaluated for a knee injury after the game.
Russell was being looked at by Jazz doctors and will undergo further testing when the team returns home to Brooklyn tomorrow. If he were to miss time, look for Spencer Dinwiddie and Isaiah Whitehead to take over at point guard with Dinwiddie serving as a standard league value. It’s been an up and down year for Russell in Brooklyn, as his solid overall production is being tanked by his awful free throw shooting and turnover numbers. Coming into this one he was uncharacteristically poor from the line at just .684 on 5.3 freebies per game. That should rebound, and even though his 4.0 turnovers per game is on the high side you couldn’t have reasonably expected him to be an asset in that area. He’s outside the top-150 now but should be in the middle-rounds by the end of the year.
