D’Angelo Russell described his rookie season as “bad” when being interviewed by Rob Perez.
Although statistically Russell had a respectable season, averaging 13.2 points per game, 3.3 assists per game, shooting 35.1 percent from three and making All-Rookie second team, it was other incidents that caused him to have a rollercoaster year. From disagreements with the coaching staff to the video incident with teammate Nick Young, it was an interesting of a season. This upcoming year things should settle in for the sophomore as Luke Walton will be taking over as head coach. He has been given the green light to shoot the ball and without Kobe to worry about, the flow of the game should work in favour of the young Lakers. Russell will be a vital piece to the Lakers rebuilding process and will have less time for drama. Look for him to improve and mature right before our very eyes.
