D’Angelo Russell had a fine outing in Saturday’s defeat at the hands of the Pelicans, playing 32 minutes and posting 21 points, nine rebounds, five assists, five 3-pointers and a steal while going 7-of-18 from the field.
That’s easily the most minutes Russell has played since he returned from injury, and he has double overtime to thank for that. It’s been an up-and-down run for D’Lo, who has alternated single and double-digit performances over his last five. His minutes are inching back up towards 20 and the sooner he surpasses that the sooner he’ll get back towards top-120 production. The injury will keep him from really breaking out but Russell should make for a nice bench option in standard leagues even if he doesn’t regain a starting job this season.
