Dante Exum drew the start for an injured George Hill on Friday but Shelvin Mack wound up playing more minutes in a home win.
Exum played 23 minutes and hit three of his five shots (all makes were triples) for nine points, two rebounds and three assists. Mack played 29 minutes but only shot 1-of-6, finishing with three points, six rebounds, four assists and a steal. Mack was valuable down the stretch last season but can’t break out with Exum holding down the starting spot. It’s a situation to avoid, as Hill looks like the only point guard in Utah who can hold his own value.
