Davis Bertans explodes for 23 points off the bench

Davis Bertans was near-perfect on Saturday, making 7-of-7 shots from the field (5-of-5 from 3-point land) and 4-of-5 shots from the line to finish the game with 23 points, two rebounds, on assist and one block with no turnovers.

Bertans put up his best game of the season and this is the kind of ceiling that earned him some late mid-round selections on draft day. This delirious shooting, while unsustainable, is still a joy to watch.

Malik Beasley

Updating a previous story, Shams Charania is reporting that Malik Beasley has been released from jail while Beasley's attorney states that there are no official charges at this time.

It had previously been reported that Beasley was arrested on charges of marijuana possession and receiving and concealing stolen property. We won't speculate on any legal matters but will keep you updated as more news breaks.

Mike Singer of the Denver Post has heard that Jerami Grant will decline his player option and opt out of his contract this summer, but has interest in staying with the Nuggets.

When asked about his future with Denver following Saturday's Game 5 defeat, Grant said, "I’m definitely looking forward to it. We’ll see how it goes.” Grant was slated to make $9.3 million next season but has earned far more than that, especially after his outstanding postseason run. An offensive explosion in last night's third quarter kept the Nuggets alive while Grant's defense on Kawhi Leonard helped them get through the second round. Singer's sources also said that Grant could command $14 – $16 million annually on the open market. Denver has some money to spend with Paul Millsap and Mason Plumlee coming off the books so if they really want to retain Grant they'll have the space to make it happen.

Malik Beasley

Shams Charania and Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic are reporting that Malik Beasley has been arrested on charges of marijuana possession and receiving and concealing stolen property.

Beasley was arrested on Saturday night and is still in police custody. His lawyer issued a statement saying, "At the time of the incident, multiple individuals were present at the residence. The allegations against Malik will be defended vigorously." Beasley, a restricted free agent, is expected to be one of Minnesota's priorities this offseason after blossoming following a midseason trade to the Wolves.

Alex Caruso

Alex Caruso (sore right wrist) was active in Saturday's win over the Nuggets, leading all Laker reserves with 26 minutes, 11 points (5-of-7 shooting), two rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block.

Caruso has long been touted as an underrated defender and he brought his bag of intangibles with him to work tonight. His heavy minutes is a good sign that his wrist injury might not be a lingering concern. While the Lakers lean heavily on both LeBron James and Anthony Davis, it's key role-players like Caruso and Danny Green (11 points, two 3s, two assists, two blocks) who round out one of the league's most potent defenses in the playoff bubble.

Dwight Howard

Dwight Howard drew another start for the Lakers on Saturday and rewarded his team with a solid effort on defense, providing them with nine points, nine rebounds and two blocks in 35 minutes.

It was nice to see Howard flirt with a double-double in this one, but his impact in the game was far more meaningful than what was reflected on the stat sheet. Howard's body in the paint gave Nikola Jokic and the rest of Denver's frontcourt some headaches. He nearly got into it with Paul Millsap after Howard landed a shoulder to Millsap's face while boxing him out for a rebound. Beyond that, Howard was not involved in any sort of on-court antics.
