DeAndre Jordan has reached an agreement on a one-year, $24.1 million deal with the Mavs.
Those are the same terms he declined from the Clippers in order to hit the free agent market. It's a little surprising to see Jordan take just one year on this deal considering how badly the Mavs wanted him, but it's something we're likely to see more of this summer as players try to hit the market next summer when teams figure to have more money to throw around. The Mavs finally got their man and will have an athletic rim runner and protector who should help them dominate the glass. Jordan was near the very bottom of our free agent rankings but it was expected that he'd get far more term than this. It's a fairly low risk deal for the Mavs, who can take a close look at DJ for a season and decide his long-term fit from there — an expiring deal may also make for an attractive trade chip.
