Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer benched point guard Dennis Schroder in the second half of the Hawks’ loss to the Warriors on Monday night.
Schroder was on fire early on in this game, scoring 19 points in the first quarter, but a heated exchange between him and Dwight Howard early in the third quarter led to another exchange of words between Schroder and coach Budenholzer. After the game, Schroder indicated he wanted to meet with his coach to talk more about what happened during the incident. “We have to figure it out, me and coach,” Schroder said. “I want to talk about it. Dwight’s got to be in there too. Get on the same page.” Schroder is a top-120 player in this league when he has his head on straight.
