Dennis Schroder scored 21 points in Wednesday's 91-97 loss to the Pistons, adding five rebounds, nine assists and a pair of 3-pointers.
Schroder struggled with efficiency — what else is new — but was able to hit all nine of his free throws to counteract a 5-for-16 shooting night. He also committed just two turnovers in 27 minutes. If Russell Westbrook were to miss some early-season games as he rehabs from offseason knee surgery, Schroder would be a sound bet for temporary middle-round production. The fact that he relies on big volume for production doesn't bode well for his full-season outlook, however.
