January 15, 2019, 1:38 pmDennis Smith Jr.G, Dallas Mavericks
Dennis Smith Jr. is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game but the listed reason is an illness, not the back tightness that's caused him to miss the last three games.
It's likely nothing but it is interesting timing considering it broke yesterday that the Mavs have increased their efforts to trade the sophomore guard. The Suns, Magic and Pistons have been rumored to be interested though reports out of Arizona have since refuted that claim. Smith has simply been overtaken by Luka Doncic as a primary ball-handler and the Mavs would like to get more assets for the future in exchange for a 20-year-old who's still loaded with upside. Smith isn't an option in 12-team fantasy leagues this year, but that could change with a trade. As for Wednesday, Maxi Kleber or Jalen Brunson will likely draw the start if Smith can't play.
