Dennis Smith continued his strong January in Saturday’s loss with 21 points (8-of-15 shooting), six rebounds, six assists, three steals and a triple.
While Smith is outside of the top-200 in 9-cat this year, he’s a much more palatable top-140 if you disregard his 2.7 turnovers per game. This was the rookie’s third straight game with 20-plus points and he’s up to .464 from the field over his last five, which is a huge improvement over his full season mark of 40.2 percent. He’s actually returning top-50 numbers over the last two weeks and is starting to look like the highly-hyped player that cost fantasy owners a middle-round selection on draft day. Smith’s nice shooting run seems like more of an anomaly considering his current body of work, so a sell high deal isn’t out of the question unless you’re one of DSJ’s biggest believers.
