Derrick Favors started at power forward in the Jazz’s season-opening win and played 28 minutes, finishing with 14 points, four rebounds, four assists and a steal.
This is a great first step for Favors, who is coming off a season more or less lost to injuries. There weren’t any blocks tonight but he was one of only two starters to finish on the positive side of the plus-minus ledger tonight, and even if you take that with a grain of salt it’s a positive development. If one night is any indication – and if he can stay on the court, of course – Favors looks poised to return some value for owners who took a flier in the late rounds.
