Derrick Williams believes that the Heat were the best fit for him and he looks to find a new level of consistency in his play according to Ira Winderman.
It’s true that Williams has bounced around a lot in the NBA and no one has really given him a fair opportunity to show off his skills. On his new team Williams should be the first forward off the bench and will be the spark plug that the Heat have been needing. It seems like the team will be looking to utilize him at both the small and power forward position, meaning more minutes for the former number two overall draft pick. Erik Spoelstra and Pat Riley are two individuals who have had success with developing players who haven’t found that right opportunity yet, which is exactly what Williams is looking for. If Bosh is sidelined, look for Williams to have an even bigger role with the team.
