Deyonta Davis disappointed in his first career start with eight points, four rebounds and a steal while Jarell Martin came off the bench for 17 points, six rebounds, one 3-pointer, one steal and one block in Wednesday’s victory over the Knicks.
Davis saw just 24 minutes and failed to block a shot, which is a letdown considering he rejected the Lakers five times in just 14 minutes on Monday. There should be better times ahead for him this year as the Grizzlies hopefully wake up and let their young guys play. As it stands he’s only a streaming consideration with Marc Gasol and Brandan Wright dealing with illness rather than full-on injury. Martin saw more run with 31 minutes and has probably earned a closer look going forward, so the rest of the frontcourt might feel a little cramped in the short-term. Outside of Gasol, nobody here is worth more than a passing glance outside of deeper formats.
