Dwight Howard has been diagnosed with a piriformis injury after visiting a back specialist.
The piriformis is a muscle in the buttock, and the injury isn't considered serious. The Wizards are planning on beginning the season without Howard, opening the door for Ian Mahinmi to start. Howard will continue treatment and this is generally a positive diagnosis, though his history of back injuries complicates the situation a bit. He'll still be a punt-build star but is looking a little riskier than usual.
