Edy Tavares made his Cavs debut in Wednesday’s season finale, getting garbage time run in a 98-83 loss to finish with six points, 10 boards and six rejections in 24 minutes.
In a cruel twist of fate, Tavares had just been signed away from Toronto’s D-League affiliate in the midst of their playoff run. The D-League All-Star asserted himself in a big way, as the 7’3″ giant was a menace at the rim. If he can get a roster spot next season he’ll quickly join Boban as a cult favorite and profiles as a per-minute monster. Hopefully he can put it all together, though the last thing most teams want to see is Cleveland finding a cheap rim protector.
