Elfrid Payton had a solid line against the Bulls on Wednesday night, tallying 14 points, six rebounds, eight assists and one steal in the Magic’s 18-point loss.
Elfrid is a fringe everyday roster guy. He’s nice to have but he’d be one of the first guys you’d drop if you had to make a move. Often times, fringe everyday roster players are boom or bust guys. Payton is totally the opposite. You just about know what you’re going to get from Payton on a game-to-game basis. Fine numbers, decent shooting, inconsistent 3-point shooting, horrid free throw shooting. He’s solid all-around but unspectacular and shouldn’t be started every day in standard leagues until he turns a corner.
