Enes Kanter has officially exercised his $18.6 million player option for next season.
As expected. It'll limit the amount of money New York can offer to free agents this summer but they're said to be focusing on short-term deals as they prepare to compete in 2019 and beyond. Kanter has already said that he'd like to remain with the Knicks long-term and bought an insurance policy in case he gets hurt this year. He should be a safe bet to deliver middle-round value again this season with Kristaps Porzingis on the shelf and the Knicks lacking NBA-ready options at center.
