Eric Gordon caught fire from behind the arc on Friday, shooting 9-of-18 from the field and 6-of-12 from deep on his way to 27 points in 34 minutes.
Gordon had a resurgent year in Houston’s potent offense last season but will struggle to author a repeat performance this season with a few new faces taking some of his minutes away. While this line was nice, it also underscores the larger problem with the reigning Sixth Man of the Year – outside of points and threes, he simply doesn’t do anything else. Tonight Gordon could only muster one rebound and two assists, and the shots won’t always be falling like this. That one-dimensional stat profile leaves Gordon stuck with a late-round valuation.
