Frank Ntilikina is the leading candidate to start at shooting guard on Tuesday night with Courtney Lee away from the team.
The Knicks are now treating Ntilikina as a shooting guard rather than a point guard given his defensive chops and length. There’s little doubt that he’s got the attributes to handle himself on the wings but it’s dispiriting that the team has bailed on their alleged point guard of the future after less than a year. If he does start, he’ll be chasing C.J. McCollum around tonight. The other alternative is to move Tim Hardaway Jr. over a spot and plug Lance Thomas in. Ntilikina has the most upside of the potential replacements but doesn’t make for a great play yet. We’ll revisit the conversation if he ends up supplanting Lee, who has already seen his minutes cut substantially.
