Despite watching his starting power forward shoot only 1-for-9 and finish with four points in game one against the Celtics, Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg is standing by Nikola Mirotic and expects him to bounce back in game two.
“I know Niko is going to come back and battle,” said Hoiberg. “I know he had some really good defensive possessions for us. Just little things that may not show up in the stat sheet, but being in the right spot, forcing the team to make extra passes. I thought Niko did battle on the defensive end and did make contributions even though his offense wasn’t going; everybody has confidence in Niko, including Niko. Just a matter of knocking down the shots when they come.” The Bulls are expected to start Mirotic again on Tuesday night against the Celtics. Bobby Portis came off the bench on Sunday to score 19 points and grab nine boards in 29 minutes of play.
