• Fred VanVleet - G - Toronto Raptors

Fred VanVleet will miss at least three weeks after sustaining a partial ligament tear in his left thumb in Saturday's win over the Knicks.

VanVleet will wear a splint for three weeks and then be re-evaluated. His absence blows a big hole in the rotation for a team that just dealt Delon Wright at the deadline. Not only is he the team's backup point guard and sixth man, but also the fill-in starter whenever Kyle Lowry or Kawhi Leonard is out. Jeremy Lin can't get to Toronto fast enough and will have a shot at top-150 numbers as soon as he takes the floor. We'll see extra minutes for Kyle Lowry, Danny Green and Norman Powell, with Pascal Siakam and Marc Gasol likely to take on more of a playmaking role as well. Further down the roster, Patrick McCaw might get some additional run too. There's no immediate pickup in 12-team leagues.

Fantasy News

  • Josh Hart - G - Los Angeles Lakers

Josh Hart (left knee tendinitis) will play against the Rockets on Thursday.

Hart was probable to play after resting up over the All-Star break following a PRP injection. He'll lengthen the bench but isn't a fantasy option with Rajon Rondo, Reggie Bullock and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope all around to play similar roles.

  • Mike Muscala - F/C - Los Angeles Lakers

Mike Muscala (sprained right ankle) has been ruled out of Thursday's matchup with the Rockets.

From probable to out in a matter of hours. If the Lakers need a floor-spacer up front it'll fall on Moe Wagner tonight, but this isn't a situation that should yield much fantasy value.

  • Tyson Chandler - C - Los Angeles Lakers

Tyson Chandler (stiff neck) will play on Thursday against the Rockets.

Chandler was initially questionable but is ready to go. He might not play much considering the matchup, but he should work as the Lakers' backup center either way.

  • Tyreke Evans - G - Indiana Pacers

Tyreke Evans (sore left ankle) is questionable for Friday after going through a limited practice on Thursday, and he could be headed for an MRI.

Evans tweaked his ankle in the last game before the All-Star break and is still dealing with some soreness. He's not a fantasy option, though his potential absence might leave more minutes open for Wes Matthews and Aaron Holiday.

  • Myles Turner - F/C - Indiana Pacers

Myles Turner (bruised left hip) is questionable ahead of Friday's game against the Pelicans.

Turner recently shed his mask, but is now dealing with a new injury. The big man is returning second-round value in a real breakout season and hopefully this injury is minor. If he's forced to sit, Domantas Sabonis and Kyle O'Quinn will split the minutes at center.

  • Mike Muscala - F/C - Los Angeles Lakers

Mike Muscala (sprained right ankle) is now questionable to face the Rockets on Thursday.

Muscala was previously listed as probable. The Lakers will be thin up front tonight if he can't play. We'll keep you updated on his condition.

  • Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot - G/F - Chicago Bulls

Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot (oblique strain) missed Thursday's practice and is questionable for Friday's game against the Magic.

Luwawu-Cabarrot has averaged 16.6 mpg in five games with the Bulls this season, so there will be some effects on the rotation here. Just not any that will change the landscape for fantasy owners.

  • Robert Covington - F - Minnesota Timberwolves

Robert Covington (right knee bone bruise) was able to go through a limited practice on Thursday but will not travel with the Wolves on their upcoming two-game road trip.

Covington was able to do some shooting drills that involved jabbing, pivoting and running before the break and it looks like another week has done him some good. We'd imagine that there's a minutes restriction upon RoCo's return considering he's already missed 20 games — and the team would be wise to decrease his playing time a bit either way — but it's a good time to pick him up if he's been dropped in any of your leagues.

  • Luc Mbah a Moute - F - Los Angeles Clippers

Luc Mbah a Moute (sore knee) will not travel with the Clippers for their next two games.

Mbah a Moute has only appeared in four games all season, so what's two more absences? There's no fantasy appeal here.

  • Wilson Chandler - F - Los Angeles Clippers

Wilson Chandler (right quad strain) will miss at least two more games.

Chandler isn't traveling on the Clippers' short road trip but it sounds like he'll be available sometime soon. With Landry Shamet seemingly locked into the starting five, it looks like Chandler will be coming off the bench for LA — not that it hurts his already-minimal fantasy appeal.
