Fred VanVleet (sore right shoulder) will not play in Game 1 on Saturday against the Wizards, with Dwane Casey saying that he is "without pain."
A tad-bit peculiar that VanVleet would be ruled out if he is dealing with only a bruise and is pain-free. Nonetheless, the Raptors will have to make due with Delon Wright as the sole backup point guard, with Norman Powell and C.J. Miles picking up a some minutes at the two-guard. Starting the season as the third string point guard behind two very talented players, VanVleet emerged into standard league relevancy and has been a valuable piece to the Raptors rotation as well. He should be a sought-after restricted free agent this offseason.
